February 15, 2017 CDOC Adds Employer Resources to Website Colorado Springs, CO: The Colorado Department of Corrections is committed to improving public safety by providing comprehensive reentry strategies and interventions that assist each offender transitioning from prison to the community. Along with the department’s current strategy to identify offenders’ skill-set and work experience to complete portfolios, the CDOC has launched new information on the website to give prospective employers an indication of offender skill-sets. Each one of the skill sets listed on the website translates to an industry in the community. This will allow employers to link skill set development with employment opportunities. The department also employees two Employment and Training Navigators (ETN’s) to work with our partners at Connecting Colorado. ETN’s provide statewide services and specialize in working with parolees to enhance job readiness by encouraging long-term employment goals with sustainable wages through soft skills classes and funding for job training. ETNs collaborate with state workforce centers, technical schools, community colleges, and other vocational opportunities. Additionally navigators seek and establish relationships with employers who are willing to hire parolees. If you are an employer looking for skilled workers, we have those workers available right now! Please visit our website www.colorado.gov/pacific/cdoc/employer-resources. Mr. Raemisch said “This will be another tool used to promote offender success in the community”.
